How to Scan Documents Using Your Smartphone

How to Scan Documents Using Your Smartphone

Our smartphones have become very powerful gadgets, the computing power within them can achieve a lot if put to use in the right way. We have heard of scientists who “mine” computational power from smartphones all over the world to complete tasks but today, we’re going to be looking at one of the easiest ways to get more from your smartphone, such as scanning a document.

It’s not once I have seen someone take a picture of a document, maybe for safe keeping or to send it to someone, I have done this too and that’s how I came about Quick PDF Scanner and Cam Scanner. Most people preffer the latter from the former, they literally work the same way, but I like what I like and that’s Quick PDF Scanner and here’s how it works:

Once you fire up the application, you are met by a homescreen that will, by default, show you up to 5 previously scanned documents, that’s if you have been using the app like I have. There is a floating camera icon and that is what you should pay attention to.

Tapping it opens up a view finder that you will use to scan the document you want. The process is automatic, once you align the document to the grid lines, the lines turn from white to green and if a second or so, the image is captured and processed.

After processing, you can edit the image by changing how it looks, I recommend sticking to original or magic – if you scanned a black and white document. Next you can share the document, crop it and if you are up to it, you can use the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) feature which recognizes the text in your document and allows you to edit, but keep in mind this doesn’t always work. If you are pleased with the document, you can go ahead and save it on your phone or share it, either as a PDF, .doc file or as an image. There’s even an option to send the scan directly to a printer.

So far, Quick PDF scanner has worked perfectly for me, in good lighting and with a well printed document, the scans come out looking great. The quality of the scan is very dependent on your phone’s camera, if your camera doesn’t take great photos, no amount of magic can make it scan a document well.

So why should you use an app to scan a document instead of just taking a picture? Well, like I mentioned, dedicated scanning apps offer better quality and they get rid of the background where you had placed your document, any more questions? There’s a comment section below.

Here’s a free business idea, if you have a great camera phone and are feeling entreprenuerial, why not start a scanning business, using your phone? Oh wait, you can’t actually start that scanning business because everyone with a smartphone knows about this now, or can you?

2017 N-Power Tax Interview Update

2017 N-Power Tax Interview Update

Please read this carefully.
The Federal Government of Nigeria entered into an Asset Finance Agreement with the Bank of Industry to provide devices. Certain vendors were preapproved by the Bank of Industry to provide those devices.
As at today, some vendors have delivered their devices but Brian and Speedstar are yet to be delivered.
Now for the devices that have been delivered, a team is currently pre-loading each device with over one million resources which includes videos, textbooks and so much more.
To move the process along, we have begun to deliver devices to beneficiaries (who selected devices before March, 2017) in Lagos and Abuja.
There has however, been a hold on delivering devices to N-Agro volunteers in Lagos and Abuja.

*Lagos, because they have not completed their training with the Ministry of Agric.

*Abuja, because a huge number of N-Agro beneficiaries did NOT turn up for the training. The ones who turned up will be contacted soon.
Those who received their devices in Lagos and Abuja would have noticed that they had to go to the MTN Service Centers to collect them.
But the pace was not very fast, so it was ramped up for Rivers State.
For those collecting devices in Rivers, we ask that you be orderly, don’t rush. It is NOT a first come, first serve basis. Each device has been marked with your name. NO ONE can give your device to anyone else.
We understand some scrupulous elements have been demanding money from you to get into the venue. DO NOT PAY ANYONE.
Shipping has begun to 7 other states asides from Lagos, Abuja and Port-Harcourt. The states will be announced once the logistics have been fully addressed.
Please understand that this is a process. Everyone will get their devices. Be patient.

All parties are working assiduously to ensure that the devices get into your hands in the shortest time possible.

Remember this Device Delivery Update is for those who selected devices before March 27th, 2017.

Reasons why your smartphone gets hot

Reasons why your smartphone gets hot

Ever had that experience where your smartphone gets so hot you think it’ll explode? You are eventually left wondering if it’s a phone issue, a battery problem, or if it’s just a sign you need to get a new device. The truth is, there are certain things that can cause that and there are things that can be done to prevent your phone from steaming up.

Here are some of the major reasons your phone gets really hot and what you can do about; Out-Dated Operating System This is one of the major reasons why your Smartphone over heats so much, let’s assume you are running an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system in 2017; where we have phones running on a 7.1 Nougat operating systems and applications such as Snapchat, Whatsapp among others are issuing app updates all the time. With such extra features, you are likely to experience your device getting hot once in awhile when you run the application. You should also know that some apps have been developed or updated to run on the latest operating system.

Several Background Apps
Another major problem with devices in this time and age is we tend to install any app that is said to be a trending, in the process, we find our devices filled with several unused apps. From my interaction with people, I have come to understand or notice that out of all the number of apps we install on our phones, we only use a handful of these installed apps leaving the rest accumulating space and background data on the phone. Ever wondered why your device memory gets filled up and gets hot unusually? Well, most people do a quick restart and it helps to a point, but the best advice would be to delete/uninstall any unwanted app to save both space and increase processing speed.

Nokia 9 leaks, has bezel-less curved AMOLED display and dual Carl Zeiss camera

Nokia 9 leaks, has bezel-less curved AMOLED display and dual Carl Zeiss camera

Nokia made a return with HMD, they initially released some mid-range smartphones, Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. The company recently dipped its toes into the flagship realm with the Nokia 8. The 8 might find a tough time competing with  other flagship phones which pack modern full screen displays and waterproof bodies. Well it seems things will change with the introduction of the upcoming Nokia 9 according to the new rumor.
It has been said that the Nokia 9 will have edge to edge, bezel-less display thanks to a curved AMOLED screen. The back is curved as well to make a seamless and ergonomic design. The rear shows a shiny copper-gold reflection which means it might be made of glass.
Nokia 9 Renders Leaked with 3D Glass & Rear-Facing Fingerprint scanner
On the back you get a dual camera, but since this is a Nokia flagship, the premium Carl Zeiss lens have been utilized. Chances are that one camera will be a monochrome like they did on the Nokia 8, but we will inform you once everything is confirmed. The screen details are inconsistent as well, some expect a 5.3 inch while others put it at 5.5 inches.
The processor is definitely going to be the Snapdragon 835 since its successor is yet to get into the market. Water and dust resistance will be supported this time round. Finally, the price has been said to be 750 euros which is significantly cheaper than the new iPhone X, LG V30 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, so that might work in Nokia’s favor.
